At 7:17 p.m., police responded to Beth Israel Medical Center at Lyons Avenue and Maple Avenue after the girl was struck while crossing the street with her family outside the hospital, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said.
The child is in stable condition, Miranda said. The driver remained at the scene and the incident is under investigation, Miranda said.
